About Hautmann Law

The principal/head of the firm is John Hautmann who was born and raised in New York State, but spent many summers in Alberta working on the family farm. After completing his undergraduate degree at C.W. Post College in New York State, he immigrated to Canada. After a 5 year career as a social worker he attended and completed his Bachelor of Laws degree at the University of Alberta in 1982. While the saying ‘Lawyers’ never retire’ is holding true, Mr. Hautmann is drawn out of the office by his enjoyment of woodworking, gardening, and spending time with his three grandchildren. The legal profession is often involved (or should be involved) in some of life’s most important decisions, and it is important to have a legal representative whom you trust and with whom you are comfortable. John has been practicing law in Edmonton for more than 35 years and has built a practice focused on the relationship between his clients and himself. In his 35 years, he has developed the experience and knowledge required to protect your interests and expertly deal with your legal matter. It can be overwhelming to navigate the legal landscape and clients are often intimidated by the process; we would be pleased to assist in explaining that process in straight forward language.
